Ikki was a versatile artist who spent his working life in the United States. During his lifetime he made more than fifty screenprints of birds. Thirty-three examples are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Some of Ikki’s bird subjects were native to Japan (e.g., pictures 1-4) while others were from the Americas (e.g., pictures 7-27). Most birds were drawn in a true-to life way (e.g., pictures 1-19). Others were drawn only semi-accurately when the picture composition was humorous rather than serious (e.g. pictures 22-24).
